Purpose of the Policy

The purpose of this policy is to state Thurston First Banks responsibility to properly safeguard their clients' non-public personal and business information. The bank is cognizant of their clients' expectation of privacy of information gathered and maintained by the bank and is aware of the importance of protecting that privacy.

Policy Principles

Thurston First Bank, its officers, employees, and directors will not disclose to any person any financial record relating to a current or former client of the Bank unless required to do so by law or by action of a court.

Respect of Right of Privacy

Thurston First Bank respects your right to privacy. The bank takes every precaution to ensure our clients privacy through both our traditional and non-traditional banking services. The Bank may collect "nonpublic personal information" about clients from the following sources: Information we receive from them on applications or other loan and account forms;

  • Information about their transactions with us or others; and
  • Information we receive from third parties such as credit bureaus.

"Nonpublic personal information" is nonpublic information about the client/consumer that we obtain in connection with providing a financial product or service to them. For example, nonpublic personal information includes information regarding their account balance, payment history, and overdraft history.

The Bank will not disclose any nonpublic personal information about you to anyone, except as permitted by law. We are permitted under law to disclose nonpublic personal information about you to other third parties in certain circumstances. For example, we may disclose nonpublic personal information about you to third parties to assist us in servicing your loan or account with us, to government entities in response to subpoenas, and to credit bureaus.

The Bank will maintain appropriate security standards and procedures to protect client information and to prevent unauthorized access to that information.

The Bank will limit employee access to a client's nonpublic personal information to those employees with a business reason for knowing such information.

The Bank will educate its employees on the importance of the confidentiality and privacy of client information.

Thurston First Bank will provide information regarding this policy to its clients upon request, at account opening, and on an annual basis in order to assure them of the Bank's commitment to the protection and privacy of personal information provided to the Bank for business purposes.
