Meet Ray Peters, Director

Ray has been the Executive Director of the Squaxin Island Tribe since 2000. He plans, directs, and coordinates the internal administration operations of the tribe while ensuring accountability of program funding and expenditures of a multi-million dollar budget.
Previously, Ray was Deputy Director of the Squaxin Island Tribe; Montana State-Northern Associate Professor and Head Women's Basketball Coach; Saint Martin's University Associate Professor and Head Women's Basketball Coach, where he led the team to its first ever appearance in the National Tournament. Ray was selected as Conference Coach of the Year 1997-1999 and voted regional Coach of the Year in 1999. In 2004, he was inducted into Saint Martin's Hall of Fame.
Ray currently serves as President of the Squaxin Island Museum and Learning Center Board, Chairman of the Little Creek Casino Resort Oversight Board, and Chairman of the Squaxin Island Tribe Contribution Commission. Ray graduated from Whitworth University, Spokane, WA with a Master of Arts in Education.
