wineProviding the South Sound’s finest selection of over 1200 domestic and imported wines, Olympic Wine Merchant has been an active part of the Olympia community since 2004. Our twice-weekly wine-tastings, specialized seminars, and other unique events provide our clientele with a broad exposure to the world of wine that is hands-on and very user-friendly, and that interactive dynamic is what makes the store experience so enjoyable.

I think the key to making Olympic Wine Merchant such a vibrant business is the depth of knowledge and commitment to service I’ve gained through more than 15 years of professional experience throughout the wine industry, including wholesale/importing, restaurant, and vineyard/winery work. This extensive background means that our clientele have a level of service and product selection available to them that is on a par with that of any wine retailer in the country, while retaining a store “personality” that is unique and local.

The primary vision for this operation was to create an environment where customers actively participate in the ongoing life of the store that extends beyond simply being consumers of fine wine and related items. Here, people come together and organize events, go on vacations together, exchange recipes and even bring some of their specialties down to the store to share with others. New friendships and expanded social and business networking are the norm for clients at Olympic Wine Merchant, and the sense of community is greatly appreciated by those who have become regular patrons.

This orientation is also why we chose Thurston First Bank, primarily due to Thurston First’s home-grown commitment to serve local client businesses. Having previously done business with other institutions that didn’t have a genuine regional focus, being able to work with Thurston First is like a breath of fresh air. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone who needs a bank that actually pays attention to their clients’ needs!

Cheers!
