Uncommon Dedication
The Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis Reservation were in urgent need of a new wellness center. The steady rise in the number of Native Americans eligible for care in Thurston, Mason, Lewis, Grays Harbor and Cowlitz counties had nearly tripled the demand placed on the Oakville, Washington center since its opening in 1979. In 2006, through cooperation with the USDA Rural Development office, Thurston First Bank worked with the Confederated Tribes to overcome some very unique lending challenges involving Sovereign land.
Today, a brand new facility, near the tribal center, provides the growing population with a greatly expanded range of medical services.
“We appreciate the bank’s knowledge of the Tribal culture requirements and the prompt attention given during the entire lending process,” says David Burnett, Chairman of the Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis Reservation, “We look forward to working with Thurston First Bank as we continue to expand and have additional borrowing needs for our future projects.”
